Instructor Biography: Tom Herman
TOM HERMAN worked for more than 40 years writing for the news pages of the Wall Street Journal.  After he retired from that full-time position in 2009, he has continued to contribute as the tax columnist for the wealth management section of the paper.  He also teaches classes about journalism at Yale in the fall and the University of San Diego in the spring.  Herman has won several journalism awards, including the Elliott V. Bell Award in June 2014, presented each year by the New York Financial Writers’ Association to “an outstanding journalist for a significant long-term contribution to the profession of financial journalism.”  Other honors include the Excellence in Financial Journalism Award from the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants in 2011, 2009 and 2002, and the Sidney J. Kess/UJA-Federation of New York Award in 2001 for “Excellence in Financial Reporting in the Field of Taxation.”
