Dr. Lucy McBride, a primary care physician based in Washington DC, is also a patient with her own healthcare struggles—so she knows how challenging it can be to navigate a system that rushes through appointments focused on testing and prescriptions. We’re also surrounded by burgeoning wellness industry full of expensive (and often false) promises. Her new book, Beyond the Prescription, is a practical road map to becoming a more empowered, informed patient and reclaiming agency over your health. It’s not about becoming your own doctor or rejecting modern medicine, but rather transforming yourself from a passive patient into an empowered partner who can advocate for relationship-centered care. Beyond the Prescription is like having a trusted doctor by your side, helping you ask better questions, advocate for what you need, and reframe what it means to be healthy. Whether you're managing a chronic condition, coping with a new diagnosis, or trying to make sense of conflicting health advice, she offers practical strategies and solutions that can make a real difference in your health and your life.

Please note: Participants are encouraged, but not required, to read the book before the online conversation. Dr. McBride will appear in conversation with Lori Rotskoff for the first part of the session, but plenty of time will be allotted to audience Q&A. The session will be recorded and made available for later viewing. If you cannot attend live, you may submit a question (at least 24 hours) in advance and we will do our best to address it during the program.
