Walking Tour: The Transformation of the Hudson River Waterfront

Once a busy turn-of-the-20th-century port, the Hudson waterfront fell into disrepair by the 1970s before being reimagined in the 1990s as a destination for New Yorkers and visitors. This tour begins at the 1910 Chelsea Piers—the Titanic’s planned arrival point, and now a sports and media complex —then follows Hudson River Park stopping at the revitalized Pier 57, Little Island (2021), ending at the Gansevoort Peninsula, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
