Elizabeth Catlett: A Black Revolutionary Artist and All That It Implies, running September 13, 2024 through January 19, 2025, displays more than 150 works of Catlett (1915-2012), a revolutionary artist and radical activist often overlooked by the mainstream art world. Born in Washington, DC, Catlett settled permanently in Mexico in 1946 where her art and activism focused attention on the experiences of Black and Mexican women. Characterized by bold lines and voluptuous forms, her powerful sculptures and prints speak directly to those united in the fight against poverty, racism, and imperialism.
