CourseGraphic Sixties Surreal, running September 24, 2025 through January 19, 2026, features artwork generated in a decade marked by social and political upheaval by more than 100 artists, including Diane Arbus, Lee Bontecou, Franklin Williams, Nancy Grossman, David Hammons, Linda Lomahaftewa, Mel Casas, Yayoi Kusama, Romare Bearden, and Louise Bourgeois, among others. The revisionist survey demonstrates the influence of earlier twentieth century surrealism on well known and only recently rediscovered artists from all across the country in the 1960s. These revolutionary artists sought new strategies to connect art with the transformed realities and sociopolitical extremes of the era.
