Focus on observational plein air drawing and painting with instruction on drawing and color theory. Enjoy drawing and painting nature and the landscape outside in good weather or indoors on rainy days. All levels are welcome!
Class meets outdoors at Audrey Hochberg Pond Preserve adjacent to Scarsdale Public Library or, during inclement weather, at Shaarei Tikvah.
Materials List for the class:
En plein air - painting and/or drawing outside
Please bring in what you have around the house. This is all suggested and optional. Minimum is just a piece of paper and pencil. If you
want to watercolor, please have watercolor paper, a few brushes, a cup for water, a palette or tray for mixing and your primary colors - blue, red, and yellow.
Drawing supplies -
Graphite Pencils: One HB pencil. Optional: 2H and 2B pencil
Sharpener: Any graphite pencil sharpener
Eraser: PRISMACOLOR Kneaded Rubber Eraser
Paper for drawing: Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Paper Pad or any paper you have that you like or prefer to draw on
Watercolor supplies -
Paper for watercoloring: 140 lb cold press watercolor paper.
-Brands: Canson XL 140 lb watercolor paper pad is reasonably priced. Feel free to bring in your favorite cold pressed paper. I will bring in extra watercolor paper too!
Paints: Watercolor set. At least the three primaries, red, blue and yellow. 6-8 colors is good to have
Brushes: Round brushes - #2, #4, #8. Maybe some larger and smaller - whatever you have.
Palette/Cup: Palette or tray you like, cup for water
Support/Drawing board: A foam board or any hard surface to support your drawing
and or watercolor
Graphite Pencils: One HB pencil and one 2H or 3H pencil
Eraser: PRISMACOLOR Kneaded Rubber Eraser
If you are drawing - just bring the drawing supplies.
If you are watercoloring - just bring the watercoloring supplies.
If you would like to draw and watercolor, feel free to bring what you have around.
