Spectrum of Desire: Love, Sex, and Gender in the Middle Ages, running October 15, 2025 through March 29, 2026 at the Met Cloisters, explores often-overlooked themes of desire, sexuality, and gender from the thirteenth to the fifteenth century when most artistic production served religious purposes. Featuring more than fifty works that include jewelry, sculptures, stained glass, manuscripts, and textiles, the exhibition displays both the serious and comical medieval portrayals of desire.
