ClassGraphic After World War I, artists explored a new way of expressing the human condition influenced by the subconscious. Man Ray revolutionized photography in dreamlike images of women. Salvador Dalí expressed his unique vision in hallucinatory paintings. René Magritte created paintings of man’s surreal existence. Mexican painter Frida Kahlo became known for her vibrant, symbolic self-portraits that explored themes of identity, the body, and death.
