Celebrate Women’s History Month by revisiting the relatively few sculptures of historic women placed around New York City. Most recently, Pioneering Women was installed in Central Park in 2020 and features women's suffrage rights activists Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Learn about the additional monuments depicting Eleanor Roosevelt in Riverside Park, abolitionist Harriet Tubman in Harlem, and author Gertrude Stein in Bryant Park. Four more works are slated for installation over the next few years. Learn about these sculptures, their artists, and how they came to be.
