On March 21, 2026, the New Museum’s 60,000 square foot building expansion will open with the exhibition New Humans: Memories of the Future, an exploration of artists’ enduring preoccupation with what it means to be human in the face of sweeping technological changes. Alongside several major new commissions on long-term view, this inaugural exhibition spans the entire museum and presents works by more than 150 artists, writers, scientists, architects, and filmmakers and surveys the myriad shapes that humanity might take, from robots and cyborgs to haunting, seemingly alien life forms.
