« back to classes page

What makes a story good for film?  Issues and conflicts portrayed must seem plausible, even if imaginary.  Characters should be engaging, provocative, and capable of carrying the story forward.  Filmmakers must be able to seduce viewers into the experience for new and often unexpected discoveries.  Each movie will be introduced, annotated, and discussed throughout the screening. Some of the following films will be considered: The Innocents (1961), The Clockmaker (2019), Nobody Knows (2004), The Crying Game (1992), Wings of Desire (1987), About Elly (2015), The Official Story (1985), and The Conversation (1974).
