This course is an introduction and refresher for singers looking to improve their musicianship skills.  We will cover rhythm, sight-reading, key signatures, time signatures and reading choral music.  This is not a vocal technique class but a musicianship class focusing on the theory needed to read music and participate as a soloist or choral singer.

Learn different theater techniques, including pantomime, characterization, and improvisation through exercises, scene work, and games.  Not only will the class be a lot of fun and full of laughs, but we will also develop spontaneity, imagination, creativity, and confidence while working in pairs, small groups, and as an ensemble.  This class welcomes students of all levels, from Broadway stars to those who have never stepped on a stage!

Vocal technique will be taught through songs from a range of vocal literature — from pop to Broadway to classical.  Opportunities to perform solo will be offered in a master-class setting.  Choral singing in harmony will also be included, based on the abilities and the number of students in the course.  We will also focus on sight reading and theory for the beginning singer.  This class will end with a recital of solos, duets, and choral works covered in class.  All abilities and levels of experience are welcome in this non-threatening opportunity to raise your voice in song!

What's your story?  We all have them, stored in the recesses of our minds.  Learn how to give shape, embellish, and bring your story to light.  Through fun exercises, delve deep within yourself and connect with the eternal spring of stories that reside there.  First session: write using playful prompts to mine memories, sifting and sorting until we unearth a golden nugget of a story, yearning to be told.  Second session: polish by diving deeper into the art of the story, working with the written word and preparing the stories for presentation.  Third session: present your story and listen supportively to the others.
