Museum Preview and Virtual Tour: Costume Art at the Met

This armchair tour of Costume Art, running May 10, 2026 through January 10, 2027 at the Met will enhance your visit or serve as a fine substitute for those unable to go in person. Private tours are not allowed in this particular exhibition, which explores depictions of the dressed body, pairing garments from the Costume Institute with artwork from the Met's collection. The groupings reveal the inherent relationship between clothing and the body, with a focus on Western art from prehistory to the present. Costume Art is the inaugural exhibition in the new, nearly 12,000-square-foot galleries adjacent to the Great Hall where the Costume Institute’s annual spring show will take place.
